AUDEMARS PIGUET ROYAL OAK DOUBLE BALANCE WHEEL OPENWORKED

By

Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked has been introduced with a black ceramic case and bracelet. It is the first time that the brand has used a ceramic case for this model.

As a patented innovation by Ap in 2016, mechanism is visible on front and back of the watch. Use of two balance wheels contributes to precision and stability of the watch. The assembly of two balance wheels and two hairsprings on the same axis enables oscillation in great synchrony.

The combination of movement, ceramic case, and bracelet distinguishes Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked as one the most striking Royal Oak models. Although it has most elements of previous models, there is a visible evolution in material and colours used.

Changing into ceramic material for the case is not as easy as it seems. Keeping the precise shape with the previous steel and gold cases, a greater amount of time and hand finishing is needed. Even the bracelet needs 30 hours of finishing which takes 5 times more time when compared to previous steel version.

41 mm black ceramic case has a titanium caseback, an AR-coated sapphire crystal, and a sapphire display back. It is water resistant up to 50 meters. “Royal Oak Double Balancier” is engraved on the caseback.

Powered by Swiss automatic Audemars Piguet in-house caliber 3132 with 38 jewels and 21,600 vph, it has a power reserve of 45 hours. It has 22kt engraved rose gold rotor and functions are hours, minutes, and central seconds.

Openworked grey dial has rose gold applied hour-markers and Royal Oak hands. Hour-markers and hands are coated with luminescent material.

It comes on a black ceramic bracelet with AP folding clasp.

MSRP is $80,300.
