Audemars Piguet released Code 11.59 collection last year and it continues reinterpreting the visual design of existing models to give some more appeal.
Two new versions of Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Automatic Flying Tourbillon have been introduced. The combination of enamel and aventurine glass creates an exclusive star-lit sky effect.
A relatively complex process including a series of applications has been applied to give the final design of the dial. A very thin layer of glass sand is mixed with water and applied on the crushed aventurine glass and then heated at more than 800°C at different times and durations to achieve transparency, depth and light.
Michael Friedman who is the head of complications says, “The latest expression of the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon brings together the dreamlike beauty of the aventurine dial with the inherent technicity of this important complication.” 41mm case is in 18kt white or rose gold with an AR-coated sapphire crystal and a sapphire crystal display back. Being water resistant to 30 meters, it has extra-thin bezel, octagonal middle case, round caseback, and highly stylized lugs.
Powered by Swiss automatic Audemars Piguet in-house caliber 2950 with 27 jewels and 21,600 vph, it has a power reserve of 65 hours. Tourbillon cage is hand-finished. The functions are hours, minutes and flying tourbillon.
Dial is a blend of crushed black or blue Aventurine glass and Grand Feu enamel. 18kt white or rose gold applied hour-markers and hands are in harmony with black inner bezel.
It comes with black alligator leather strap with AP folding clasp.
