Shirakaba is the white birch tree that thrives in Shizukuishi. Inspired by this beautiful tree, Grand Seiko has introduced the White Birch model. This model reflects the dynamism of the white birch tree forests in Shizukuishi, where all Grand Seiko mechanical watches are crafted.
The texture of the dial allows the watch lovers to experience the exact same feeling that the visitor to these forests has. The overall look of the watch is known as the Series 9 Design and it will be an important part of the Grand Seiko Heritage Collection’s signature in the years to come.
The stainless-steel case is polished and has the measurements of 40mm x 11.7mm. There is AR- coated sapphire crystal on the front and a sapphire caseback on the back side of the model. Being water resistant up to 100 meters, the model also has magnetic resistance to 4,800 A/m.
The special texture of the dial paying tribute to white birch trees is in harmony with the same silver color indexes and hands.
Powered by Japanese automatic Grand Seiko in-house Hi-Beat Caliber 9SA5 with 47 jewels, it operates at a frequency of 36,000 vph and has a power reserve of 80 hours. The complications are hours, minutes, seconds, and date.
The model comes with a steel bracelet with three-fold clasp.
The model will be available in March 2021 at Grand Seiko Boutiques and the price is $9,100.
