Panerai, which was established as a watchmaking workshop, shop and school in Florence in 1860, has been a remarkable model with its unique designs. Panerai was a brand that supplied precision watches to the Italian Navy and special diving units before it was taken over by the Richemont company in 1997.
Many models produced by the brand during this period remained military secrets, including the Luminor and Radiomir. The brand, which entered the international market after 1997, made its name known all over the world. Today, the Panerai brand develops and manufactures its movements and watches at its facility in Neuchâtel. Combining Italian design with Switzerland’s unique horological expertise, Panerai has become a brand that many watch enthusiasts want to add to their collections.
Panerai has designed a new performance watch inspired by the brand ambassador, freediver Guillaume Néry: Luminor Marina 44mm Guillaume Néry Edition. The brand celebrates the 70th anniversary of the invention of the Luminor with this special model, limited to 70 pieces and guaranteed for 70 years.
The case is made of sandblasted titanium measuring 44mm x 16.2mm and has a crown protection patented by the brand. A rubber coating is applied to the bezel, crown and bridge lever which are also made of titanium. On the back cover of the watch, it is possible to see Guillaume Néry’s signature, the “70-year warranty” logo, and an illustration of Guillaume Néry diving.
There are Super-Luminova coated Arabic numerals and indexes on the black dial. There is a second sub-dial at 9 o’clock and date 3 o’clock.
The model, which is waterproof up to 300 meters, has an automatic caliber P.9010 with 31 jewels and 200 components. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph and has a 72-hour power reserve. The functions of the watch are hours, minutes, seconds and date.
The model is offered with a black plastic strap with a titanium buckle with white stitching and an additional white rubber strap.
The price of the model is EUR 19,000.
