MING 27.02

MING is a horological collective formed and fully funded by six enthusiasts from around the world under the leadership of Ming Thein.

The brand defines its goal as bringing back a sense of excitement and discovery through watches that show considered deliberation and refinement in every detail, while punching far above their price point. MING does not manufacture in-house components, rather it assembles them in Switzerland and the quality controls are done in Malaysia.

The brand has welcomed the new year by introducing MING 27.02. This specific model features the thin case used for 27.01 which was one of the 2020 GPHG-finalists.

The model, which emphasizes radial symmetry and legibility, has flared lugs. Thus, the transitions from the case to dial are very smooth. The dial includes a gradient on the lower surface and laser etched markers on the upper surface. The center of the dial is inky black which transitions to more visible guilloché at the edges. Although 27.02 does not convey any luminous material, this mix of surfaces enables great legibility and a sense of depth.

The stainless-steel case which has the measurements of 38mm x 6.9mm is quite elegant and thin. The case has mix of polished, brushed, and blasted surfaces. Anti-reflective sapphire crystals are used on both sides of the model. Gradient sapphire dial has laser etched and white-filled indexes.

Powered by manual-winding MING 7001.M1 caliber which is the modified version of ETA 7001 with new bridges and baseplate, the model has the power reserve of 42 hours and it is water-resistant up to 50 meters.

Limited to 200 pieces, the model comes with blue-grey leather strap made by Jean Rousseau Paris.

The price is CHF 4,950.
