As a new addition to UR-100 series, URWERK has introduced UR-100V Iron. Martin Frei who is both the chief designer and co-founder of the brand states: “The main reason to fall in love with a watch is an emotional reaction to its looks.”
Having an ultra-bold design, the watch is kind of back-to basic style. Besides the configuration of wandering hours, UR-100 V Iron gives you a sharper focus.
The minute pointer with red tip disappears after 60 minutes. However, it appears on a different part of the dial showing an astronomical indication of distance taken in 20 minutes. In other words, it shows the distance taken when somebody stands on equator for 20 minutes.
Distance and time are on a par while the hours and minutes are in blue, and the kilometers are in bright white. Felix Baumgartner, the co-founder, discloses that his father inspired him for this with a watch that he gave as a present.
“This new movement enabled a redesign of the carousel, bringing the hours closer to the minutes as they travel in succession along the 60-minute scale. The result is an easier and more intuitive reading of the time”. Says Felix Baumgartner.
In order to complete the design and complement full-metal look, some touches of dark blue are made. Therefore, hour numerals and the minute track are contrast with the bright metal surfaces.
