Born in 1955 in the effervescence of the post-war years, the “Cornes de vache” model, named after the characteristic shape of its lugs, quickly established itself as one of the emblematic chronographs of its time. The case, in stainless steel, measures 38.5mm x 10.9mm. It has double sapphire crystals, a ten-sided bezel, and it is water resistant to 30 meters.
Movement is the Swiss manual-wind Vacheron in-house caliber 1142 with 21 jewels, 21,600 vph and a power reserve of 48 hours. Hallmark of Geneva certified timepiece. Functions are: hours, minutes, small seconds at 9 o’clock. Column-wheel chronograph with 30-minute counter. The column-wheel is adorned with a screw head shaped like a Maltese cross, the Vacheron Constantin emblem. Entirely bevelled and hand-decorated, with circular-grained finishes on the dial side and Côtes de Genève on the back.
It has a grey velvet-finished opaline center dial with snailed counters. 18kt white gold applied hour-markers and Roman numerals. 18kt white gold hours, minutes and small seconds hands. Blued steel chronograph and 30-minute counter hands. Tachymeter scale on a 1,000 meter base.
It comes on a dark brown calf leather strap with patina, calf leather inner shell, tone on tone stitching and a steel buckle. Made by Milanese leather goods Maison Serapian.
